How do I add a text overlay to my videos?

iOS

  • Tap record tab (bottom middle of Tout mobile app)
  • Tap camera icon to record (middle right) and/or upload moments from your Camera Roll (top left stacked icon)
  • Tap checkmark icon (bottom right)
  • At the main composition screen, you’ll have four options from the Action Bar at the bottom (listed from left to right):
    • Import photos or videos from your Camera Roll
    • Record footage
    • Add text overlay
    • Record voiceover
  • To add text overlay, tap “T” icon
  • Scrub or play the video to the point you want to add your text overlay
  • Tap “T” icon to open your keyboard and enter desired text
  • Tap and hold right or left end of scrubber bar to define segment where text overlay should appear (3-seconds minimum)
  • Tap “Done” (top-right)
  • Select more options from Action Bar (bottom), or tap “Next” (top right)
  • Enter description with relevant hashtags/@mentions
  • Tap “Submit” (top-right) to upload video

To edit/delete an existing Text Overlay (before submitting):

  • Tap “T” icon to go back to the text overlay composition screen
  • Tap the blue bar corresponding to the text overlay
  • Tap the pencil icon to edit
  • Tap the trash can icon to delete
